About

WHO WE ARE

For the Bayou is a grass-roots, non profit 501(c)(3) organization started in San Francisco in the fall of 2008 to increase public awareness of the disappearing Louisiana coastal wetlands.  We started our organization because we realize that this is a national emergency and we are running out of time to restore what has been lost and to save what remains of Louisiana’s wetlands and fragile coastline, one of America’s largest coastal wetlands.

All directors and officers of the organization are volunteers that have come together to make people aware of this major, national crisis.

MISSION & GOALS

We work with organizations in Louisiana that focus on education,  restoration and protection of Louisiana’s wetlands and coast and we help to directly fund restoration projects.   We also work with amazing Louisiana musicians, artists and chefs to promote Louisiana art, music, food and culture and educate people about the wetland crisis at their concerts and events throughout the country.  Please contact us if interested in joining our efforts.

She received her J.D. from Tulane Law School in 2006, with a certificate of specialization in Environmental Law.  During law school, Page clerked for the U.S. Department of Justice, Environmental & Natural Resources Division, Environmental Defense Section in Washington, D.C.  Page received her B.A. in International Relations with an environment and development focus from Stanford University in 1999.    Page has been an enthusiastic volunteer with For the Bayou and brings with her a passion for the environment and a love for all things Louisiana.

Secretary, Patrice Petersen - A proud Cajun & native of Houma, Louisiana, Patrice now resides in the Bay Area where she works in real estate.  Patrice is all too familiar with the repercussions of losing Louisiana’s wetlands as her  family fell victim to storm surge and flooding from Hurricanes Ike and Gustav.

CFO , Jill Keagy - Jill works with a variety of philanthropies here in the Bay Area.  She is a former advertising executive for Microsoft and is now a proud mom and volunteer with For the Bayou and Room to Read.

Chairman of the Board, John Redwine - John is a native of NOLA residing in the Bay Area and working in real estate investment services with Marcus & Millichap.  John brings a passion for all things Louisiana and will make sure we are not only meeting our project goals, but that we properly welcome and support Louisiana musicians and artists coming through the Bay Area.

Louisiana Wetland Facts

This is an ENVIRONMENTAL EMERGENCY The severity of the current wetlands loss in Louisiana is so great that it is disappearing before our very eyes. If something is not done now, the reversal process will be too difficult to save the wetlands or Louisiana’s entire southern coast. ..........................................................................
Help us spread the word about this environmental disaster. Support efforts to restore our nation's largest and most vulnerable coastal wetlands.
